Conference Venue

STAMFORD PLAZA BRISBANE

Our conference venue will be the Stamford Plaza Brisbane. The Stamford opened in 1990, originally as the Heritage Hotel, and was bought by the Stamford group in 2001. It is one of the oldest five star hotels in Brisbane and is recognised as a top luxury city destination hotel. It offers two of the top premiere suites in Brisbane, which are known for their size and old world luxury. Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh have stayed at the hotel, as have many from sport, art, and political arenas, among them Roger Federer and his family, Nigel Kennedy, Lady Gaga, the Dalai Lama and Barack Obama.

Its location is beside the river, adjacent to the City Botanic Gardens and within walking distance of Brisbane’s downtown, shopping and entertainment precincts. On the river bank is the embarking pier for the City Cat up-river ferry and the Kitty Cat cross-river ferry which link to many of Brisbane’s feature destinations. It is a short ride to South Bank, which is a large leisure area including the Cultural Centre, Museum, Art Gallery, State Library, and Convention Centre.

Across the road from the hotel are the original Brisbane Botanic Gardens, beautifully maintained with quiet walks through trees, gardens and along the river bank. A short walk brings one to the Queensland State Parliament buildings, some of which are of heritage value.

There is a regular, free, “hop-on-hop-off” bus for venturing further around the city.
