To help address the growing need for technological skills, the Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) has released a Supply Chain Technology Certificate.
ASCM explained that the certificate provides “relevant and timely information for people in the supply chain industry who want to gain a fundamental understanding of emerging technologies, how they’re implemented for organizational improvement, and how they directly affect supply chain performance.”
ASCM is a global association dedicated to organizational transformation, talent development and supply chain innovation.
The Supply Chain Technology Certificate enables both individuals and corporations to display their deepening knowledge on topics including blockchain, advanced analytics and automation, the internet of things, cybersecurity, demand planning technologies and 3D printing.
“The pandemic made it clear to supply chain leaders that they need visibility into not only their suppliers, but their suppliers’ suppliers to be resilient. Add in agility and flexibility to respond to consumer expectations – the capabilities and pressures on supply chains are greater than ever before,” ASCM CEO Abe Eshkenazi, CSCP, CPA, CAE, said.
The certificate program is designed for early to mid-level professionals and features 20 hours of self-paced eLearning educational content broken down into six courses and a final exam. Those who pass the exam will earn both a certificate and digital badge. In addition, participants may be eligible to earn up to 20 maintenance points toward their ASCM certification.
The ASCM certified is designed to educate individuals with limited to no coding experience on how technology directly affects supply chain performance. Among the topics covered are:
• Increasing the speed and flexibility of production processes
• Streamlining and improve operational performance
• Increasing reliability
• Minimizing security threats
• Easing the process of evaluating data Providing meaningful insights into supplier lead times and customer demands
“Technology is the conduit – this certificate provides supply chain professionals with the knowledge they need to keep up with all the demands of the modern supply chain,” Eshkenazi added.
